How To Build A Seven Figure Freelance Consulting Business From Scratch
Introduction
We created a seven-figure consulting business from scratch. If you’re interested in following our footsteps, read on so we can show you the step by step process of how we did it.
Build a prestigious and niche brand.
The third and final step of building a seven figure freelance consulting business is to build a prestigious and niche brand. This is the part where you take all that goodwill you’ve built up with your clients, and turn it into something more concrete — a brand. A brand is the umbrella under which all of your work lives. It’s how people will recognize what you do, who they call when they need help, etc.
Building a prestigious brand means creating an identity that commands respect in its industry — in other words, something people feel compelled to pay attention to because it has been proven to be an authority on its subject matter over time (think: Harvard Business Review). You can also think about this as being “the” leading practitioner or expert in whatever space is most important for your business right now (for example: if you’re consulting on social media strategy then maybe someone like Gary Vaynerchuk would be considered prestigious in your field).
Building a niche brand means creating an identity that provides value for specific types of businesses (like small businesses). It’s not enough just being good at something anymore; there needs to be something unique about how you approach solving problems that others don’t offer as well (or at least not nearly as effectively) as yourself. This can come from any number of angles depending upon which problem(s) potential clients are looking to solve through hiring outside help like yours!
Find an existing problem that your audience has today.
You’re going to need to find a problem that your audience is already experiencing, and is willing to pay for a solution.
The best way to do this is by using social media. Identify the pain points of your target audience on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn groups (and any other platforms they might be active on) and make note of them. Ask questions like:
- What do you struggle with?
- How can I help?
- What would you change about your life if money wasn’t an issue?
Find an audience with money to spend on the solution you provide.
There’s a reason why I’m starting with this, and it’s not just because it makes for a good headline.
Before all else, you need to find an audience that has money to spend on the solution you provide. There are many ways to do this, but the two most common ones are:
- Find a problem your audience has and then create a product or service that solves it for them (this is the approach we took in building our consulting business). For example: if you know people who struggle with getting new clients for their businesses, then offer them advice and tools that help them get those clients. Or if you want to start selling products online but don’t know where exactly to start when it comes down to actually picking products and suppliers/manufacturers etc., then offer yourself as an expert consultant who can support people through this process like we did when we helped build eCommerce stores from scratch before launching our own store!
- Join an existing community where members have money problems themselves or are willing either directly or indirectly through referrals of others outside their communities (you could also simply start one yourself). For example: if someone is looking for freelance writers who can write content easily without needing much direction in order not only save time but also increase quality output per hour spent writing each article — then provide such services quickly by offering discounted rates initially until further trust builds between both parties so that once ready — your client will pay full price again allowing both parties more security moving forward into future projects together.”
Build your own status and authority as a consultant.
- Become a thought leader in your niche. Thought leadership is another way of saying that you have a unique expertise that makes people want to pay you for it. To become a thought leader, you need to become known as an expert in your field by publishing content online and speaking at events around the world.
- Build your personal brand. Your personal brand is what makes people want to work with you or buy from you: it’s the reputation that precedes all else when it comes to selling products or services on the internet. To build your personal brand, use social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter as well as video channels like YouTube and Periscope (which are great for making money).
- Public speaking opportunities are one of the best ways to build up experience in front of audiences while promoting yourself at the same time! If this sounds appealing but maybe seems too daunting right now because there aren’t many opportunities available where most people live — don’t worry! There are plenty of online communities where speakers can share their experiences without leaving home base; plus there are many other ways such as podcasts or blogs.
Leverage PPC advertising for fast results and to get new customers through your door.
PPC advertising is a great way to get new customers through your door fast. It’s also an effective way to generate sales, customer referrals and leads from existing clients.

You can build a high ticket consulting business from scratch with these tips.
- Build a prestigious and niche brand. This is the critical first step in building a seven figure consulting business. Your goal is to become an authority in your field, so you need to create a strong brand that immediately evokes trust and credibility when people see it or hear about it.
- Find an existing problem your audience has today that they’re willing to pay money to solve. Once you have a strong brand, it’s time to find problems that people want solved right now, but aren’t solving on their own — and then package up those solutions as good-to-go packages for sale through your consulting business (more on this later). You should also look for niches within broader industries where there are unmet needs that could be met by your expertise.
- Find an audience with money to spend on solving these problems today . Once again: no one wants advice from someone who isn’t successful themselves! If someone’s not making six figures in their own freelancing business yet, how do we know if they’ll be any good at helping us? It’s important not just because potential clients will see this as proof of experience and expertise — but because if there isn’t enough demand for what we’re selling now then maybe our service isn’t necessary yet either…
Conclusion
If you want to get started building a freelance consulting business, then I really recommend you going through this process and start applying it. I have seen the success of so many people who used to be in your position and now run 7 figure businesses from home. Now it’s time for you to do the same!
